Code of Conduct

Late Night Early is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all participants to learn, dance, and socialize. We strive to create an inclusive community that embraces diversity in backgrounds, identities, races, bodies, ages, religions, sexual orientations, genders, disabilities, and dance experience. Discrimination or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

This code applies to everyone at our events — attendees, instructors, DJs, volunteers, organizers, and staff alike.

1. Be Mindful of Your Words and Actions

Harassment includes derogatory comments related to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or national origin. Be aware that your actions affect others. If someone tells you that your behavior is making them uncomfortable, listen, and correct it promptly and respectfully.

2. No Illegal Behavior

Illegal activities, including drug use and underage drinking, are prohibited at Late Night Early events. Be aware that alcohol and other substances make it harder to read and respect boundaries — know your limits.

3. Harassment is Unacceptable

Harassment of any form — verbal, physical, emotional, or sexual — is not permitted. Persistent, unwelcome attention or actions will be treated as harassment, even if not intended as such. Offending participants will be required to correct their behavior immediately, and repeat offenders may be asked to leave without a refund.

Verbal or emotional harassment includes offensive comments about a person’s identity, race, age, appearance, gender, sexuality, or dance ability, as well as unwanted sexual or romantic advances and lewd comments.

Physical and non-verbal harassment includes inappropriate touching, deliberate intimidation, and blocking someone’s path.

Dancer Etiquette

Asking for Dances

Anyone may ask anyone to dance, regardless of role. Anyone may decline a dance for any reason, without explanation. If someone declines, respect it immediately. Either partner may end a dance early if they become uncomfortable.

No Unsolicited Advice

Don’t teach or give feedback on the social floor or during lessons unless your partner asks for it. If a partner is hurting you or you feel unsafe, say so immediately — that’s not feedback, that’s your safety.

Risky Moves

Don’t lead or perform moves that carry real risk of injury — aerials, drops, weight-supported moves — unless both partners are comfortable with them and the floor allows it.

Hygiene

Partner dancing is close-contact. Please come freshly showered, bring a change of shirt if you sweat through one, and go easy on perfume and cologne — some dancers have scent sensitivities.

Photography & Recording

Photography and recording are permitted at Late Night Early events, and LNE and the venue may photograph or record for promotional and archival use. If someone asks not to be photographed, respect it. Ignoring such a request, or photographing someone in a way meant to intimidate, will be treated as harassment.

Reporting

If you feel unsafe or witness inappropriate behavior, tell any LNE organizer or volunteer at the event, or email info@latenightearly.dance. Reports will be handled discreetly and shared only with those who need to know in order to respond. Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith is itself a violation of this code.

Enforcement

If you are asked to stop inappropriate behavior, you are expected to comply immediately. Consequences range from a verbal reminder to removal from the event without refund, up to a temporary or permanent ban from future LNE events, depending on severity.

Conduct Outside Our Events

Conduct outside our events, including online, may be considered when it raises a credible safety concern for people in this community. In serious cases it may result in a ban from future events.
